Project Number 1

Summary:

Two chemistries, Brulin 815 GD and WR Grace Daraclean 282, were effective in removing contaminants. A two-stage rinsing process was also suggested by the lab. Company has switched to the recommended process.

Test Objective:

Take lapping compound off parts with an aqueous cleaner

Product Use:

Aircraft components

0 05/17/1996 Find cleaning system to replace Mineral Spirits Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined.
1 05/21/1996 Update on testing results Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined.

Project Number 2

Summary:

Testing was conducted over a one-month period on three contaminants using two forms of mechanical energy and two rinsing strategies. An attempt was made during the evaluations to identify a product that could be used on all of the contaminants. Many products were identified to meet this requirement. Of the initial eight products tested, half were successful for each contaminant using one of the three operating conditions. One product, Bio T 300 B, consistently removed over 97% of the contaminants under all circumstances. Ultrasonic cleaning with rinsing resulted in the four products tested to have over 90% removal of the tapping fluid. BioChem System Bio T 300 B has been selected by the client for in-house testing. Client has contacted vendor to have a representative come to facility to work on converting current vapor degreaser to be able to use alternative cleaning products. BioChem Systems has also pledged to work with the client’s current customers to gain acceptance of Bio T 300 B as an approved cleaning process.

Test Objective:

To eliminate TCE usage
